Lemieux was one the couple best forwards the league has ever seen. The argument that he is better than Gretzky is based on an assumption that, had Lemieux been as healthy and durable as Gretzky, he would have eclipsed Gretzky’s innumerable records. This argument assumes that Lemieux would have improved his PPG during his ageing process (during the dead puck era, too), given that Gretzky’s PPG is better despite the ton of games played.

Also, people tell me that Gretzky was a better defensive player.
